The Giver is an excellent example of a film that would greatly benefit from the entire non-linear production process. It is an otherwise "normal" live-action film, and has had serious difficulties being translated to film (now on it's second studio after the option expired on the first one). I believe the non-linear production approach, and story reels in particular, are key to getting projects like The Giver off the ground.
